Dog Information and Overview: Bijou is a true diamond in the rough, our work in progress. Bijou came into the Belgian Sheepdog Rescue Trust program very unsocialized and frightened. She would not eat kibble and she could not walk down the street without barking incessantly at people, cars or other dogs. She was leery of cats and pushy with her foster dog housemates. With much love, work and training from her foster family, Bijou is making great strides but she is not done. She is still slow to warm up to strangers When out for a walk, (on a leash of course), Bijou will start to bark at strangers and needs to be redirected and walk in another direction. She plays nicely with her housemates and is pretty good with the cats. Bijou is very loving with her family, spayed and in excellent health. She is up to date on her vaccinations and housebroken. Her intelligence and high energy and her need for structure and consistency, tempered with love and fairness, make Bijou the perfect pet for an experienced dog owner, preferably an owner who has had other Belgian sheepdogs. She will need a home willing to continue her training and perhaps eventually enroll her in obedience for more socialization. She will do best with children over 12 because of her energy and enthusiasm.
